Gaining weight
I was at a healthy weight in high school. Even if I didn’t know it then. Yes, I thought I was fat. sigh
I gained the freshman 15, the sophomore 15,the junior 15. I gained a few pounds the first half of my senior year.
Over break, I resolved to lose weight. I started going to the FREE-to-students gym whenever I could squeeze it in between work, school, and hanging out with my boyfriend and friends. And I tried to eat well which is hard when you eat at a college dining hall everyday! I lost 10-15 pounds that semester. Then during the first 6 months of grad school, I lost another 20-25 pounds. I was still about 10 pounds into the overweight category of BMI but I think I was at a pretty good place health-wise.
Then I got pregnant and gained all 35 pounds back. Life as a mother and full time student was a lot to get used to so I never lost the weight.
Then I had a second pregnancy and gained another 20-30 pounds. I finally committed to getting healthy when he was about 9 or 10 months old.
I wish I had never let being a busy working mom be an excuse to let my health go. But that’s in the past. Now I can do something about it.
